Learning objectives

Every doctor needs to be constantly updated on current scientific literature to be able to make decisions supported by the best available evidence. This course aims to introduce the concepts of evidence-based medicine and to provide theoretical and practical bases for the critical reading of a scientific article, including studies on original data, meta-analyzes and other synthesis research studies, as well as guidelines for clinical practice.

Prerequisites and basic notions

The only prerequisites for attending the course are basic knowledge of the English language and basic elements of statistics and medical epidemiology.

Lesson 1: Evidence-based medicine, definition and basic concepts Lesson 2: How to read and understand a randomized trial Lesson 3: How to read and understand a meta-analysis Lesson 4: Evaluate the quality of the studies; elements of methodology for the production of evidence-based guidelines
