Learning objectives

- recognize the main hereditary and acquired prothrombotic diatheses,
- know the main laboratory assays for thrombophilic screening: how, when and to whom to request
- knowledge of the main anticoagulant therapies: traditional anticoagulation (warfarin and heparin) and direct anticoagulants: indications for different treatments
