Learning objectives

Anatomy The educational module of human anatomy aims to provide students with the fundamental morphological aspects of the structures of the human body, the different macroscopic, topographic, and microscopic aspects for the subsequent understanding of the functions of the human body The morphological and semeiological knowledge of the apparatuses. Making judgments: knowing how to carry out reasoning on a preventive and adapted basis. Communication skills: being able to express oneself correctly from a technical point of view. The course aims to provide the knowledge concerning the topographical subdivision of the human body, reference plans and related terminology. In-depth treatment of the skeleton, joints and head and neck muscles. The development of the neurocranium and the splanchno-skull. The blood and lymphatic vessels of the head and neck. The regional anatomy of the head and neck: oral cavity, tongue, teeth, salivary glands, nasal and paranasal cavities, pharynx, larynx. The development of the central and peripheral nervous system, of the cranial nerves. The student must obtain knowledge of general anatomy, concerning the different systems (nervous, cardiovascular, respiratory, locomotor, digestive, urogenital, lymphatic, endocrine), to complete the acquired knowledge of the special anatomy of head and neck.

Program

The course comprises two parts. The first part (about the first 50 hours) aims to guide the student to understand the general organization of the macroscopic and microscopic structure of organs, apparatuses and systems and of their topographical and functional integration in the architecture of the human body. The following apparatuses/systems will be described through a purely systematic and "total body" approach, although the structures related to the head and neck region will be treated in much greater detail: integument, locomotor system (bones, joints and skeletal muscles), circulatory system (heart, blood vessels) and lymphatic system (lymphoid organs and lymphatic vessels), digestive system, urinary system, genital system, endocrine system, nervous system (central and peripheral, somatic and autonomic) and sense organs.
The second part of the course includes an in-depth and detailed description of the anatomical structures of the head and neck and their topographical and functional relationships, through loco-regional and sectional approaches.

Didactic methods

The course will include lectures, with the aid of slides and interactive 3D software, practical laboratories on anatomical models and microscopic preparations, anatomical dissection laboratories on cadavers.

Evaluation criteria

the exam will evaluate the student's understanding of the morpho-functional organization of all the organs and systems of the human body and, with particular detail, of the anatomical structures of the head and neck. The student's ability to describe these structures according to a logical approach and with an appropriate anatomical language will also be evaluated.

Criteria for the composition of the final grade

The final grade will be established by the examination board on the basis of a single oral exam.
