Learning objectives

The course aims to systematically provide an overview of fundamental concepts and current technologies for the development of dynamic applications for the web. It also aims to provide the essential basic skills for the design and creation of simple applications and services for mobile devices (smartphones/tablets). At the end of the course, the student will have to: Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the basic functioning of current web technologies and the characteristics of the main mobile platforms; Know how to apply the knowledge acquired in order to develop intermediate-level dynamic web applications and to design and develop simple applications and/or services for mobile devices; Be able to use current technology and/or the most suitable platform for the development of a web and/or mobile application; Knowing how to argue in a technical and precise way the design and development choices you decide to make; Be able to continue the studies independently or face the world of work also in the field of web and mobile application development.

Typical basic knowledge of programming and databases.

Program

The course introduces the fundamental principles and technologies for the development of modern web and mobile applications. Students will acquire practical skills in designing responsive web interfaces, developing dynamic front-end applications, integrating with back-end services through APIs, and producing cross-platform mobile applications.

Learning assessment procedures

The exam consists of:
* a preliminary pass/fail test carried out in the laboratory, with multiple-choice and/or true/false questions on the topics covered in the course;
* the development of a project consisting of a working web/mobile application;
* an oral examination in which students will present and discuss the project, explaining and justifying the technical and implementation choices adopted.

Students with disabilities or specific learning disorders (SLD), who intend to request the adaptation of the exam, must follow the instructions given HERE

Evaluation criteria

The assessment will consider the student’s knowledge and mastery of the concepts covered in class, their ability to apply them to real-world contexts, and their ability to explain, justify, and critically discuss the design and implementation choices adopted.

Criteria for the composition of the final grade

The final grade will be determined according to the following distribution:

* 20% computer-based test;
* 40% quality of the project;
* 40% oral exam, with particular attention to the ability to present, justify, and critically discuss the technical and implementation choices made.
