Academic calendar
The academic calendar shows the deadlines and scheduled events that are relevant to students, teaching and technical-administrative staff of the University. Public holidays and University closures are also indicated. The academic year normally begins on 1 October each year and ends on 30 September of the following year.

Program
The module will focus on the theme of care relationships by observing the ways in which they are carried out in complex Western societies by different agencies: family, primary social networks, and welfare systems.
After a presentation of the ways in which, after the industrialization processes in the Western society, families, communities and the welfare state have shared the care tasks, we will proceed to a critical analysis of the characteristics of each of these agencies:
- Family: it will be analysed the morphogenesis of family structures and functions in our societies.
- Community: 1) thorough the presentation of survey data, it will be analysed primary social networks (kinship, neighborhood, friend networks) support functions; 2) Civil society and the third sector (voluntary work, social cooperation, associations of social promotion) will be observed as nowadays modalities chosen by community to express its way to take care of human needs.
- Welfare state: it will be defined the different welfare models (public, privatized, and "corporate") of their different intertwining with the private sphere in care relationships.

Didactic methods
Teaching will be carried out through lectures, with classroom discussion of the contents proposed by the teacher.
Learning assessment procedures
The final exam will evaluate the students' acquisition of the main sociological concepts related to the division of care tasks between the various agencies that are at work in contemporary Western society.
The test is scheduled in oral form.
Evaluation criteria
Through an oral interview, the student will have to show that he / she possesses the basic lexicon and sociological concepts to describe the dynamics that accompany institutions such as the family, civil society and the social state in carrying out the care tasks entrusted to them at the present time.
