Learning objectives

The course provides knowledge and methods to:
- analyze the research process (qualitative-quantitative approaches) and the main study designs
- develop a research protocol
- develop the skills necessary to critically appraise or assess the validity and the generalizalibilty of a research article or a clinical practice guideline

- Selection and definition of the problem, questions research hypotheses, research design

- Classification of research studies (experimental and observational studies mixed method )

Learning assessment procedures

The final examination will consist of multiple choice and open questions to assess students' understanding of the research concepts covered in the course and their ability to apply critical appraisal skills to the assessment and interpretation of clinical evidence.

Evaluation criteria

The final grade will be calculated on the basis of two criteria:
1. Participation in class (10%): student's commitment in carrying out the assigned exercises.
2. Written exam (90%)
