Learning outcomes

Give an advanced knowledge and metodology of information systems used in enterprises and database implementation.
Implement an actual database throgh an office application.

Program

Data, information and computer representation of information. Binary logic and advanced server architecture used in organizations: RAID technology, business continuity, disaster recovery.
Project of a database: requirements analysis, conceptual project, logical project, implementation.
ER Entity-Relationship model.
Redundancy and integrity in a database.
Implemetation of a database: SQL language, SQL query.
Examples and exercises.
Utilization of opensource "Base" application in the LibreOffice suite and implementation.

Examination Methods

Written exam with open questions and presentation of a database project.
The questions are intended to verify the learning of the topics covered in class and the answers are contained in the course slides. The database exercises are aimed at verifying the student's ability to use the theoretical methodologies learned in solving problems related to an hypothetical real database.
