Learning objectives
The placement during the training course is the privileged and irreplaceable way to learn the professional role through active experimentation. The quality of the internship depends on the continuous interaction of the practical experience with theoretical reflection. Practical activity aims to: promote and integrate theoretical and practical knowledge; develop technical, educational and relational skills; promote direct knowledge of experiential areas, as well as critical reflection on the operational modalities observed.
Prerequisites and basic notions
Having achieved the objectives of the first year and passed the exam of "Morphological foundations of life" and "Health and safety promotion" Having attended the theoretical lessons and laboratories
Program
The internship will take place in a clinical setting in accredited hospital and territorial facilities. The 2nd year student will develop the following objectives: • Carry out situation- and problem-oriented monitoring of patients and document significant changes in the patient's condition, justifying causes and/or physiopathological/psychological mechanisms underlying the care needs/problems or risk factors • Carry out nursing care interventions to address and resolve symptoms and problems, constantly considering the patient's and his/her family's preferences, resources, priorities (primarily the following problems: risk of falling, hydro-electrolytic imbalance, malnutrition, dyspnea and hypoxia, acute and chronic pain, immobilization syndrome, intolerance to physical activity, incontinence) • Prepare and monitor the person undergoing diagnostic-therapeutic investigations (bronchoscopy, gastroscopy, ERCP, colonoscopy, thoracentesis, paracentesis) • Ensure the safe administration of oral and parenteral therapy to a limited number of patients, and collaborate with supervision in the infusion therapy. Activate targeted controls with respect to monitoring and document the expected effects. Adapt the method of drug administration (parenteral, enteral, inhalation, topical and oxygen therapy) to the patient's degree of dependence (physical and mental state), interactions, fasting, inability to swallow and the preoperative phase. • Implement additional care techniques in a safe manner, primarily peripheral venous cannulation, electrocardiogram, dressing of the CVC entry site, stoma care. • Ensure effective relationship with the patient, family members and caregivers using communication techniques adapted to the situation and the patient's condition (with communication deficit, cognitive disorder or temporal-spatial orientation disorder.) • Inform, involve and educate the person, family members to promote healthy lifestyles and provide supervised instructions with respect to self-care behaviors related to basic care, drug management, devices, prevention of complications
Didactic methods
Preparation for the internship experience with structured meetings and practical workshops. Accompaniment by dedicated tutors during clinical activity.
Learning assessment procedures
The learning assessment is planned at the end of each internship experience through the completion of the objectives sheet with the definition of the achievement. at the end of the internship experiences with a written test with multiple choice questions and an oral test consisting of the discussion of a patient's care.
