Learning outcomes

The objective of the Infectious Diseases Module is to clarify in the first place the difference between infection / colonization and infectious disease. In detail, epidemiology, etiology, transmission modalities, clinical manifestations, diagnosis, prevention and hints of therapy of HIV infections, HAV, HBV, HCV, M.tuberculosis will be considered. Bacterial meningitis and enteritis will also be addressed. Finally, health-care associated infections will be addressed in their entirety, with a particular focus on CVC-related bacteraemia and on the importance of hard-hygiene with an alcohol -based solution for the prevention of these infections.
