Academic calendar
The academic calendar shows the deadlines and scheduled events that are relevant to students, teaching and technical-administrative staff of the University. Public holidays and University closures are also indicated. The academic year normally begins on 1 October each year and ends on 30 September of the following year.

Introduction to Evidence Based Practice Definition and characteristics of Evidence Based Practice and the steps of EBP: a) From the need for information to the formulation of the question b) Converting the need for information into a question: background and foreground questions c) Research the best sources of information: traditional forms of updating (treatises/books, magazines) and use of online databases such as PubMed and National Guidelines Plan (PNLG) d) Critically evaluate the evidence: validity, usefulness and applicability e) Integrate evidence/ experience with circumstances, patient values, resources... Main characteristics of research designs and congruence between question and research design Meaning of some concepts aimed at developing reading and understanding skills of a source: sampling, randomization, homogeneity, representativeness, primary outcome and surrogate, objective, hypothesis and statement of intent, dependent – independent variable, intervention. Evidence based tools: systematic review, meta-analysis, guideline, Systematic reviews - The stages of the process of preparing a systematic review - Differences between systematic reviews and narrative reviews - Criteria for evaluating the quality of systematic reviews Guidelines - Definition and characteristics ( evidence based and not EB) - Phases for producing evidence-based guidelines - Structure of the guidelines - Recommendations and grading - Where to find the Guidelines - The use of the Guidelines in practice Source of study: handout with workbook drawn up by the teacher of 52 pages available in moodle

Teaching methods Short frontal lessons on theoretical principles Individual reading of sections and subsequent applications to classroom exercises Interactive self-assessment activity via wooclap Integrations The teaching is integrated with the modules of - Professional laboratories or exercises relating to: bibliographic research in pubmed and piano National Guidelines, reading and interpretation of a scientific article - Statistics and epidemiology with respect to the interpretation of tables and results
Learning assessment procedures
The method is written and integrated with the teaching teachers. There are approximately 7-8 multiple choice questions with a single correct answer and 5 open questions with short answers which evaluate the acquisition of definitions and theoretical concepts linked to EBP, characteristics of studies, SRs and Guidelines. Excerpt from article - primary or secondary study with the table of the characteristics of the sample and the main results with respect to which - through 4 closed multiple choice and open questions - you will be asked to - indicate the type of study design, justifying your answer by describing the characteristics, - interpret tables e.g. table of sample characteristics or results. - interpret figures e.g. forest plots of a meta-analysis - describe the meaning of statistical results (e.g. RR, OR and CI) and deduce implications for practice
Evaluation criteria
The grade is in 30mi and it is necessary to reach a minimum acceptable level (LAP 18/30mi) for the most knowledge part (the questions are worth from 1 to 2 points - represents 60% of the total score) and the applied knowledge section ( 4 questions of 2 and 3 points; 40% of the score) Contribute to the evaluation - active and constructive participation in the classroom - constructive contribution within the work groups - use of the planned reading spaces in preparation for interactive lessons
