Academic calendar
The academic calendar shows the deadlines and scheduled events that are relevant to students, teaching and technical-administrative staff of the University. Public holidays and University closures are also indicated. The academic year normally begins on 1 October each year and ends on 30 September of the following year.

Learning outcomes
Teaching contributes to the achievement of the following learning outcomes:
- explain the founding principles of the caring relationship, techniques and strategies for managing effective communication;
- understand the relational dynamics, the defense reactions in the processes of adaptation of people to situations of psychological and social distress and physical suffering;
- use appropriate communication skills (verbal, nonverbal and written) with users within the care process and/or with other health care professionals;

The basics and forms of communication
Non-verbal communication (gaze, gestures, posture, facial expressions)
Proxemics: distance in social relations
The context matrix of meanings
The principles of the nurse-patient relationship
- paradigm of Carl Rogers: non-directiveness, centrality of the person, respect, positive and unconditional acceptance, congruence, authenticity; empathy and its declination in the helping relationship
- the right distance in the helping relationship
Styles and techniques that facilitate the interview in the relationship
- listening (empathic listening, critical listening, active listening)
- asking (closed questions, open questions, leading questions)
- Support and encourage the patient (ECO technique, assent)
- understanding and supporting (techniques: rephrasing, mirroring, legitimizing, empathic comments, recapitulating)
Styles and attitudes that do not facilitate communication - relationship (making judgments, approving or disapproving of patient behaviors, stereotypical phrasing, communicative infantilization)

Communication in the care of people with sensory impairments. Strategies to improve the quality of communication with people who are deaf, blind, aphasic.
Teaching is also accomplished with the use of film viewing and small group activities.

Examination Methods
There will be 5 appeals with compulsory registration (system is 3)
If not enrolled, non-admission to the test
Only for those who have obtained the frequencies
Written test with questions structured as:
open, completion, matching, multiple choice
text analysis of a relational case
On the day of the call, the student must take the tests for at least 2 of the 3 modules because it is important to study them at the same time as related topics; regardless of the number of modules taken (2 or 3) it is necessary to reach a sufficient level in at least 2 modules for the exam to be considered passed (with possible integration/recovery of the exam of only one module).
The parts of the block not passed must be completed by the following session January April July - September. Attention after extraordinary appeal of January (next academic year) partial marks (started in July and September sessions) will be reset.
The partial marks will be published, within 3 days from the publication the student must communicate via email the intention to repeat the module if he wants to improve his preparation.

La domanda di iscrizione part-time può essere presentata all'inizio di ogni anno accademico e comunque entro il 30 novembre di ogni anno. Entro lo stesso termine, se necessario, lo studente potrà richiedere di tornare al regime full-time.
