For these reasons this course represents a prerequisite for the clinical practice. It also offers to student the opportunity to train himself in applying the theoretical principles to practice situations. The main skills of the first year of the Bachelor Degree are: measuring vital parameters, hand hygiene, choice and use of personal protective equipment (PPE), setting up a sterile field, staging and treatment of a pressure injury , take care of the person's body, apply the principles of ergonomics, carry out the person's positioning / transfer and assisted positioning maneuvers, assessment skills and objective examination.

Program

Detecting the heart rate: • correctly detecting the radial pulse (site and technique) • calculating the heart rate, measuring it for the correct time Detecting the systolic pressure with palpatory technique • detecting the radial pulse and the brachial artery • correctly positioning the arm of the person (not isometric contraction) and the cuff (height and direction) • inflating and deflating the cuff correctly (speed and pressure) • detecting the appearance of the radial pulse and recognizing it as the systolic pressure level. Take systolic and diastolic blood pressure with auscultatory technique • by detecting the brachial artery • by correctly positioning the person's arm (not isometric contraction) and the cuff (height and direction) • by correctly positioning the bell of the stethoscope (on the artery, free of the cuff) • inflating and deflating the cuff correctly (speed and pressure) • hearing the first Korotkoff sound and recognizing it as a systolic blood pressure value • hearing the fifth Korotkoff sound and recognizing it as a diastolic blood pressure value Determine the respiratory rate: • using both covert and hand on chest modes • measuring it for the correct time Taking temperature: • selecting the correct site • performing the correct measurement technique Detecting peripheral oxygen saturation: • selecting the correct site • performing the correct measurement technique Through the use of a simulated scenario the student will demonstrate to: • observe and recognize safety behaviors • recognize and discuss elements of pain assessment through interview • observe an example for monitoring vital signs, interpret the data collected and use tools to support monitoring interventions (through the NEWS2 scale)
