Learning outcomes

The aim of the course is to investigate physiopathologic, clinical and assistive aspects of some of the priority health problems selected according to their epidemiological relevance and exemplarity both in clinical instability and especially in chronicity / disability. Considering changes arising from the aging of the population and the increase in chronic degenerative problems. The approach focuses on the recognition and management of current and potential problems with a view to continuity in the various contexts of care and the promotion and development of skills and self-help skills.

Program

DIABETES MELLITUS: epidemiology, classification, biosynthesis-secretion-action of insulin, criteria for diagnosis,
screening, type 1 diabetes: pathogenesis and therapy, type 2 diabetes: pathogenesis and therapy,
gestational diabetes, acute complications: lactic acidosis, hyperosmolar coma,
ketoacidosis, hypoglycaemia, chronic complications

THYROID: Hypo- and hyperthyroidism (pathogenesis, symptoms, diagnosis, treatment)
