Learning outcomes
The course aims to give tools to provide the optimal nursing care to patients with a gynecologic cancer or cancer during pregnancy and knowledge of the role of midwives in the multidisciplinary approach of a cancer team. Provides the knowledge of main medical, surgical, radiotherapic, reconstructive and fertility preservation techniques. Provides and discusses how to transfer information to the patient, how to build a relationship of trust and how to support her and her family.
Program
Oncologic epidemiology and biostatistics, general principles on preoperative evaluation, medical management, radiotherapy and critical care in Gynecologic Oncology. General aspects of surgical techniques (surgical staging, laparoscopy, laparotomy, robotic surgery, reconstructive surgery), treatment complications and fertility preservation. Communication skills and psychological issues of gynecologic cancer for oncology nurses and midwives. Analysis and interactive discussion of clinical cases.
