Learning objectives

The second year laboratories aim to help students to acquire basic obstetric care skills and midwifery management in simulation contexts.

Prerequisites and basic notions

Theoretical prerequisites for obstetric care of the physiological newborn

Program

Care of the newborn starting with skin-to-skin contact, hygienic care of the newborn, recording of anthropometric measurements and vital signs, and carrying out metabolic screenings.

Didactic methods

Laboratory in a small group of students: demonstration by the teacher and subsequent experimentation by the student on the planned activities

Learning assessment procedures

Not required. Eligibility criteria include active participation in the workshop and knowledge of the theoretical prerequisites.
