Learning outcomes

The course provides students with the fundamental concepts to be able to have clear concepts of urgency and emergency and be able to recognize and intervene in situations of urgency and obstetric and gynecological emergencies.
The expected learning outcomes are:

KNOWLEDGE:
• Know the clinical aspects of the complications of labor, delivery and the puerperium.
• be able to describe and recognize the most frequently encountered clinical pictures of obstetric pathology.
• Know the differential diagnostic elements applicable from the midwife to define the need for the physician's intervention in the individual clinical cases that came to his observation;
• Know the professional responsibilities of the midwife in obstetric emergencies and emergencies / and the current rules that define competence, responsibilities, areas of autonomy, integration and interdependence, and knowledge of the organization.
SKILLS
• Knowing how to diagnose emergency and emergency situations in the obstetric field.
• being able to manage any obstetric emergency both on a clinical and organizational level;
• Knowing how to apply the necessary emergency measures to the doctor;
• Be able to establish a treatment priority scale and have learned the concepts of Triage and risk management management in the delivery room.
• Be able to apply assistance and good practice algorithms in emergencies and maternal-fetal emergencies
• Be able to read and interpret cardiotocography by recognizing and managing urgent and cardiotocographic emergencies in labor.

Program

The course will cover the following topics:
■ Urgencies and emergencies: cultural model according to CRM (Crisis Resource Management) to minimize the risk of error;
■ technical skills in emergencies / emergencies (technical skills)
■ non technical skills, team work, simulation, (team work and management, situational awareness and decision making, leadership, communication and error prevention).
■ Obstetric triage and new care management strategies

Obstetric emergencies:
■ Team Training in emergency: basic features of assistance and emergency communication in the delivery room
■ Clinical standard mnemonics to improve clinical communication
■ Planning and organization of work in the delivery room
■ The documentation of the obstetric emergency in medical records
■ Quality improvement methods in obstetric emergency (Quality Improvement Process); the responsibility of the midwife
■ Recommendation 6 - Ministry of Health: Recommendation for the prevention of maternal mortality related to labor and / or birth ":
Emergency and maternal-fetal emergencies
■ The cord prolapse
■ Dystocia of the shoulders
■ Simulation by watching and commenting on video films.
Urgent cardiotocographic emergencies in labor
■ Dilating period: clinical significance of non-normal cardiotocographic parameters,
■ Expulsive period: pathological cardiotocographic patterns;
■ Rare CTG patterns correlated with a high hypoxic risk
■ Simulation by watching and commenting on video films with clinical traces.
■ PDTA in emergencies and cardiotocographic emergencies in labor.
TEACHING METHODS
The classroom meetings involve the use of lectures (with slides), group discussions and exercises, in order to let the student know which are the contexts that favor or, on the contrary, inhibit the appropriate intervention processes in situations of obstetric emergencies, as the content of the module.

REQUIREMENT OF ACCESS TO THE EXAMINATION
You have attended the teaching form as indications of the CDL.
CHARACTERISTICS OF THE EXAMINATION
The objective of the examination is to verify the level of achievement of the previously indicated educational objectives
- The exam will take place in written form and will consist of some open questions and some closed questions drawn from the materials and study texts. The open questions are always present and require the student to apply training concepts, clinical algorithms and models learned during the study of the texts. The closed questions are a variable constant in numerical terms (it depends on the structure of the text that changes from time to time).
- Duration of the test 60 minutes.
- Examples of written and presentation exams are presented during the lessons

Students with disabilities or specific learning disorders (SLD), who intend to request the adaptation of the exam, must follow the instructions given HERE

Tirocinio professionalizzante

Durante l'esperienza di tirocinio la supervisione dello studente è garantita da un sistema di tutorato articolato su 2 o 3 livelli e, di norma, assunto da operatori dello stesso profilo professionale degli studenti:

Tutor professionale con competenze avanzate sia pedagogiche che professionali; collabora all'organizzazione e gestione dei tirocini, alla progettazione e conduzione di laboratori di formazione professionale. Seleziona le opportunità formative, integra l'esperienza pratica con la teoria appresa, presidia in particolare le prime fasi di apprendimento di un intervento o di una competenza. Si occupa dei processi di apprendimento degli studenti in difficoltà, facilita i processi di valutazione dell'apprendimento in tirocinio e tiene i rapporti con le sedi di tirocinio. I Tutor Professionali sono scelti in accordo con le strutture sanitarie presso cui si svolge l'attività formativa e assegnati con incarichi triennali alla struttura didattica.

Guida di Tirocinio/tutor clinico è l'operatore che guida lo studente nella sede di tirocinio mentre svolge le sue normali attività lavorative. È garante della sicurezza dello studente e degli utenti, vigila affinché gli utenti ricevano una prestazione di qualità anche quando essa venga delegata agli studenti, si assicura che gli stessi siano informati e diano il loro consenso ad essere assistiti da uno studente.
Al termine di ciascun anno di corso viene effettuata una valutazione certificativa per accertare i livelli raggiunti dallo studente nello sviluppo delle competenze professionali attese.

Il questionario deve essere compilato a seguito di infortunio per la comunicazione obbligatoria al datore di lavoro.
La segnalazione dell’infortunio deve essere fatta anche per lesioni di lieve entità o prognosi da uno a tre giorni.

Ulteriori attività formative

La Commissione Didattica propone e organizza ampia offerta di attività didattiche opzionali, realizzabili con seminari, attività a piccoli gruppi, partecipazione al progetto TECO T/D, partecipazione ad eventi di aggiornamento professionale selezionati, tirocini, fino al conseguimento di un numero complessivo di 6 CFU. Le attività formative a scelta dello studente si concludono con una valutazione di “approvazione”; tale attività concorre al completamento delle certificazioni di profitto requisito per accedere all’esame finale. Qualora lo studente si presenti con una documentazione ed elaborazione insufficienti il Coordinatore deciderà le modalità per il completamento/integrazione di tali attività.
