Learning outcomes
Acquisire le abilità linguistiche necessarie per comunicare con pazienti e professionisti ove necessario e per leggere e comprendere il contenuto di lavori scientifici su argomenti professionali specifici.
Program
The course plans to develop the students' competences in relation to grammatical structures, vocabulary and functional language relevant to professional practices.
Specifically, the focus is on the following topics:
A) Present simple vs Present Continuous: Health professionals, Health and Medical History, Prepositions of place and movement: Giving directions, the hospital and its departments. Working Abroad.
B) Past Tenses (Simple and Perfect): The admission procedures and the hospital – Patient records,Imperative tense: Give information and First aid, what is Physiotherapy
C) Making Comparisons: Describing pain
Question forms: Symptom reports
Aspects of the Future: Introduction to a care
Problems and aids, Should/shouldn’t: Give advice.
Muscoloskeletal system functioning, its illnesses and disorders.
Posture, Gait and Assistive Devices.
D) Conditionals
Expressing possibility and obligation.
Modal Verbs: Types and forms of medication
Giving reasons: Types of therapy.
E) Passive Forms - How to read & write a Scientific Paper/Abstract.
During the course the following papers will be analysed:
1) Yoga for stroke rehab
2) Pain-QuILT a user-friendly tool for the self-report and tracking of pain
3) Physical exercise improves strength, balance, mobility and endurance in people with cognitive impairment and dementia
4) Culture and Physiotherapy

Examination Methods
Students' abilities assessment will be measured through a written exam aimed at verifying the knowledge of all the didactic module.
