Definition of computer science. General structure of a computer. Overview of operating systems and application programs.
Knowledge of software programs useful in healthcare: use of word processing programs and data representation and analysis, particularly Word and Excel.
Word: Text formatting, creation of indexes, summaries, bibliographies, and cross-references.
Excel: Tabular data representation, data preparation in Excel, processing, main statistical and logical-mathematical formulas, concise data representation (statistical measures, frequencies, graphs, pivot tables).
Practical exercises on the PC using Word and Microsoft Excel.
