Program

The course aims to introduce the basic tools of Logic and to discuss its importance in the context of scientific research. Specifically, the course is divided into four lessons:
1. Introduction to Logic and deduction. The translation from natural language to formal language.
2. Truth tables: how they are built, what they are used for, how to use them.
3. Syntactic methods of deduction (equivalences, natural deduction)
4. Applications: logical fallacies, examples in medical reasoning.

Didactic methods

The course consists of four in-person lectures.

Learning assessment procedures

The exam will evaluate the learning of the notions presented during the course through a written test. Specifically, this will consist of four exercises (one for each lesson) to be completed in 1 hour.
