Learning objectives

The course aims to provide the basic knowledge necessary to develop an adequate ability to observe and analyze the characteristics of the patient, the caregiver and the family and social context in which the user is inserted. The course aims to lead the student to adopt a global vision of the user knowing how to integrate the information coming from the interaction with other professionals. MODULE SPEECH THERAPY EVALUATION METHODOLOGY The module aims to guide students to develop the ability to observe the patient according to the bio-psycho-social model, using the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) as a tool to interpret clinical phenomena in the patient's care path. Furthermore, they will learn the main elements that constitute the speech therapy assessment, the methods of drawing up the balance and the planning of the rehabilitation intervention. Finally, students will deepen the concept of Evidence-Based Medicine (EBM) as an approach to clinical practice and will acquire skills in clinical reasoning. MODULE SOCIOLOGY OF CULTURAL PROCESSES AND THE FAMILY The module aims to lead students to reflect in sociological terms on the concept of family as a relevant context in which each individual is placed, in order to improve their actions as speech therapists in a constantly changing world. The aim is to analyze both the structural aspects, roles and functions of the family, and the cultural and communicative relational aspects. In particular, the aim is to bring reflection on the prejudice, stigma and stereotype that often accompany families when they present characteristics of diversity, in order to offer students a sort of "toolbox" to deal with today's complexity, reflecting on their professional actions, broadening their point of view, developing their ability to judge, communicate and relate to the Other. MODULE DEVELOPMENTAL PSYCHOLOGY The course is aimed at acquiring and deepening the principles and methodologies of investigation of developmental psychology. In particular, it is intended to promote: - knowledge and understanding: a. of development processes in the different areas (emotional-relational, cognitive, communicative-linguistic, motor, attention and memory) within the main theoretical models; b. of the main protective and risk factors that can favor or hinder developmental trajectories; - The ability to understand the bidirectional relationship between child characteristics (neurobiological factors and skills) and characteristics of the context (e.g. family, social and cultural factors) and to structure observations of child behavior, identifying any risk factors in the different domains of development; - The ability to critically apply the skills learned to design interventions to promote well-being while respecting individual differences. MODULE SPEECH THERAPY COUNSELLING The module aims to provide the conceptual, methodological, professional bases necessary to know and understand the meaning of Counselling in the speech therapy field, acquire the basic notions of Counselling as a helping relationship in problematic situations in the speech therapy health field. Know and communication skills to promote facilitating behaviours in crisis situations in the relationship with the user, caregivers and in various organizational contexts. MODULE NEUROPSYCHOMOTRICITY The aim of the course is to provide a basic knowledge of the typical development of the child from birth to adulthood, to be able to qualitatively observe the child in his complexity and to be able to identify the boundary between anomaly, delay and pathology, in reference to the specific developmental areas with particular attention to the motor-praxic and play area, and to understand the close correlation between motor skills and psychological-cognitive skills, with particular reference to problems of interest also to speech therapy.
