Learning objectives

The course aims to describe ENT pathologies related to hearing loss and vocal cord pathologies, with the consequent ability to implement an assessment and speech therapy rehabilitation intervention, both in developmental age and in adulthood. Basic knowledge is also provided regarding the fitting of prosthetic aids, useful for interaction with other professionals and developing interdisciplinarity. MODULE ENT IN HEARING LOSS The module aims to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary for understanding the diagnostic-therapeutic acts of ENT relevance, referred to the ear, at a general level, both in developmental age and in adulthood, and the importance of auditory stimulation in the development of both the auditory system and in the complex of the communicative and psychic structure of the individual. MODULE ENT IN VOICE DISEASES The module aims to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to understand the diagnostic-therapeutic acts of otorhinolaryngology relevance, referring to voice pathologies, of a general level, both in developmental age and in adulthood. The student must be able to carry out an adequate assessment and subsequently plan a specific rehabilitation therapeutic plan. MODULE SPEECH THERAPY FOR VOICE DISORDERS The module aims to provide the theoretical foundations of the voice and its management. In particular, a multidimensional evaluation of the dysphonic patient is proposed, with insights related to the various aspects (perceptive, objective, subjective) as proposed by the relevant scientific societies and the literature on the subject. Starting from this, the different voice pathologies are explored from a specific clinical and therapeutic point of view, reflecting on which objectives to pursue and with what timing and methods. Finally, the module addresses from a theoretical point of view the rationale but also the practical aspect of the vocal rehabilitation methodologies used in speech therapy practice, thus placing them in greater relation with what was previously learned. MODULE AUDIOMETRY FITTING The aim of the course is to provide training that allows a correct approach to the indications and management of the adult or pediatric patient with both cochlear implant and implantable prosthesis. The anatomical and physiological knowledge of hearing function will be explored by dealing with the main techniques for verifying regulation, patient management together with new tests aimed at optimising and individualising the appropriate rehabilitation choice. MODULE SPEECH THERAPY IN HEARING DISORDERS The module aims to present and make students understand the characteristics of language in hearing-impaired subjects depending on hearing impairment and biopsychosocial variables, the evolution of the various prosthetic aids and the related assessment and rehabilitation tools, depending on the age of onset of hearing loss and the beginning of speech therapy intervention, both in developmental and adult age.
