Learning objectives

The course aims to present the main neurological syndromes and the main clinical problems of the elderly patient with respect to swallowing. The student must be able to implement the assessment and the rehabilitation program of dysphagic patients, possibly with a tracheal cannula, in an interdisciplinary context, knowing how to collaborate with other health professionals. MODULE GERIATRICS The objectives of the course will be the recognition, interpretation and management of the main clinical problems of the elderly. In particular, the physiology of aging, multidimensional assessment, disability, malnutrition and dehydration will be educational objectives. Focusing on the recognition and management of problems with a view to continuity in the different care contexts and on the promotion and development of care skills. MODULE SPEECH THERAPY OF ALTERATIONS OF HIGHER CORTICAL FUNCTIONS AND DYSPHAGIAS The module aims to lead the student to acquire the theoretical bases and specific training on the speech therapy management of dysphagia in adults and the elderly with different etiopathogenesis in the various care settings. MODULE PHYSIOTHERAPY REHABILITATION IN PATIENTS WITH A TRACHEOSTOMY CANNULA The module aims to accompany the student to know the methods of physiotherapy approach in the patient with a tracheostomy cannula in mechanical ventilation and spontaneous breathing, understand the rationale for which they are applied and know the useful tools for the speech therapist figure that are also used for physiotherapy.
