Learning outcomes

The course aims to acquaint the student of biochemistry and chemistry of environmental pollution:
1) specific terminology used
2) the mechanisms of pollution and depollution
3) the reasons for which man pollutes
4) the effects and the costs of pollution
5) the direct and indirect techniques of analysis of air, water and soil pollutants

Program

Definitions; types of pollution; the causes of pollution; direct and indirect effects of pollution; methods of analysis; damage to health; costs; phenomena of self-purification; purification techniques; specific aspects of air, water and soil polluttants; landfills; incineration; composting.
