Learning outcomes

To provide basic knowledge on the equipment currently used in a nuclear medicine department, as Mo99/Tc-99m and Ge68/Ga68 generators, dose calibrators, gamma cameras, PET scanners and relative quality assurance programme.

Program

Nuclear medicine: general concepts.
Rodionuclide production: nuclera reactor, cyclotron and generator
Scintillation detectors
Gamma camera: collimator, detectors, PMT and electronic components.
Gamma camera calibration and quality assurance
Pet tomography: physics concepts, tomograph architecture, quality assurance
Gas detector
Dose calibrator
Scattering and attenuation correction in imaging reconstruction
Thyroid uptake system and quality assurance
Intraoperative probes and quality assurance
