Learning outcomes

The "DRAWING AND PROJECT REPRESENTATION" course has the following objectives:
1) To make students acquire the ability to represent space and architecture through drawing and the ability to see and manage, through drawing, the functional and formal problems and solutions of an architectural, structural and plant engineering nature, related to the architectural organism intended as a living environment.
2) Provide students with: knowledge and skills related to the theories and techniques of drawing and project representation; basic knowledge and skills related to direct architectural survey; knowledge of the basic notions of the preliminary drawing, the final drawing and the executive drawing; basic knowledge of digital drawing.

Program

The "CIVIL DRAWING AND PROJECT REPRESENTATION" program, provides:
1. Lessons that integrate theories and applications
2. Development of a drawing

1. LESSONS
The topics covered in the lessons are as follows:
> THEORIES AND TECHNIQUES OF DRAWING AND OF THE PROJECT REPRESENTATION.
Introduction to drawing (thought, idea, expression and language) / Drawing, image and representation / Notes on spatial drawing / Generalities on representation techniques / Anthropometric measurements / The scales of representation / Drawing formats and dimensions / 2D representation / Plans, sections, elevations / Graphic standards and conventions / Height measurements / 3D representation / Principles of Perspective and perception of space / Notes on color perception (Primary, secondary, tertiary, complementary and analogous colors) / The scale architectural and urban scale / Representation of residential and public buildings / Representation of urban space / Notes on: General Town Plan (PRG), aerial photogrammetry and levels lines / Representation of boundaries and gaps between buildings.
> DIRECT SURVEY OF ARCHITECTURE
Principles of survey space. Eidotype and trilaterations.
> DRAWING OF THE PRELIMINARY, DEFINITIVE AND EXECUTIVE PROJECT
Introduction to project drawing / Notes on spatial project (architecture-structure-systems) / The project phases / Architectural drawing / Preliminary, definitive, executive drawing (general information) / Analysis of some project drawings relating to residential and school buildings and sanitary / Requirements and minimum sizing of living environments (standards and technical prescriptions) / Elimination of architectural barriers: regulations, technical prescriptions and graphic design schemes / Drawing of vertical connection systems: connecting stairs, fire escapes, lifts for the public and of service / Notes on the drawing of the external and internal locking systems (external and internal fixtures) / Drawing of the toilets / Drawing of external and internal walls / Notes on the drawing of the structural elements: pillars, beams and floors / Notes on the system drawing photovoltaic and solar thermal / Notes on: infographic representations, sis communication themes and representations of fire prevention systems
> DIGITAL DRAWING
Digital representation / Notes on: raster images, pixels and color space / Notes on vector drawing. CAD drawing principles.

2. DRAWING
During the course, in parallel with the lessons, each student is expected to carry out a drawing consisting of the representation of a small living space (home and/or office) and the relative context in which it is located, in the adequate representation scale.
In the drawing the topics of the lessons are deepened, defining the Representation of space and architecture through the drawing, and the functional and formal problems and solutions of an architectural, structural and plant engineering nature, linked to the architectural organism intended as a living environment.

> The drawing is reviewed by the teacher on a periodic basis communicated during the lessons;
> The drawing is presented and discussed during the exam, in .pdf format on a computer.
> The drawing can be done manually or on the computer. In the case of a drawing done manually (paper), it must be scanned (at 300 dpi) generating a file in .pdf format. to be presented for the exam on a computer. In the case of a drawing done on a computer, a file in .pdf format must still be generated, to be presented for the exam on a computer.

Examination Methods

The "DRAWING AND PROJECT REPRESENTATION" exam takes place through:
an oral test + discussion of the drawing produced during the course.
In particular:
The ORAL TEST consists of three questions regarding the topics of the course program.
In the oral test the candidate must demonstrate, depending on the topic of the question:
knowledge and skills related to the theories and techniques of drawing and project representation;
basic knowledge and skills related to direct architectural survey;
knowledge of the basic notions of the preliminary drawing, the final drawing and the executive drawing;
basic knowledge of digital drawing.
The DISCUSSION OF THE DRAWING consists of a brief presentation of the drawing carried out during the course.
> Through the DRAWING the candidate must demonstrate: the ability to represent space and architecture through drawing;
> Through the DISCUSSION of the drawing the candidate must demonstrate: the ability to see and manage, through the drawing, the functional and formal problems and solutions of an architectural, structural and plant engineering nature, related to the architectural organism understood as living environment.

METHOD OF PRESENTING OF THE DRAWING DURING THE EXAM:
In .pdf format on a computer; in case of several .pdf files, they must be collected in a single .pdf file.
DELIVERY/SENDING OF THE DRAWING:
The .pdf file must be sent to the teacher seven days before the exam.

EXAM DURATION (oral exam + discussion of graphic design):
max 30 min (for each candidate).

EVALUATION CRITERIA:
oral exam: max 9 points - Drawing: max 9 points - Drawing discussion: max 9 points - Technical language properties related to the discipline: max 3 points.

Please note that the "DRAWING AND PROJECT REPRESENTATION" exam is part of the exam
Course of "ENGINEERING AND SCIENCE OF PREVENTION FOR THE PROTECTION OF HEALTH IN THE ENVIRONMENTS OF LIFE".
