Learning outcomes
The Sustainable Wine Management course aims at examining the contexts, the specificities and the approaches to sustainability and sustainable development within the wine sector.
Knowledge.
The 'Sustainable Wine Market Analysis and Perspectives' module will focus on providing students with knowledge about the sustainability strategies implemented in the wine sector, the different managerial motivations to include sustainability goals among business and supply chain objectives. In addition, knowledge will be provided regarding the interest of consumers for sustainability issues in the wine sector.
Skills.
At the end of the course, the student will acquire the ability to apply sustainability principles in corporate strategies, to take advantage of the sustainable practices adopted, and will be able to use sustainability as a strategic lever in wine businesses, wine supply chain, and wine clusters.

The module on Sustainable Wine Market Analysis and Perspectives will cover the following topics:
- The evolving concept of the sustainable development and its application to the wine sector.
- Principles of the circular economy.
- Sustainability trends, future market scenarios for sustainable wine making and marketing strategies.
- The role of institutions in promoting sustainable wine (institutional design for sustainability).
- Winegrowers views and motivations: drivers and barriers to the adoption of sustainable practices.
- Market research for sustainable wine focusing on consumer interest and concerns related to the sustainability of wine.
- Case studies.
Teaching methods.
The course includes: lectures using slides, in-depth seminars with the participation of experts, discussions with students, group work for deepening some specific issues and for a first application of the knowledge obtained to real cases.
Examination Methods
The exam will consist of a final oral exam aimed at ascertaining the achievement of the training objectives of the course.
In particular, the test will consist of a presentation the student's project, carried out during the course, and some open questions to verify the acquisition of skills on the topics covered during the course.
The evaluation will take into consideration both the level of knowledge of the concepts, principles, theories and practices discussed in the course, and the capacity for critical analysis and discussion on these issues and their application in the case study presented.

Double degree
The University of Verona, through a network of agreements with foreign universities, offers international courses that enable students to gain a Double/Joint degree at the time of graduation. Indeed, students enrolled in a Double/Joint degree programme will be able to obtain both the degree of the University of Verona and the degree issued by the Partner University abroad - where they are expected to attend part of the programme -, in the time it normally takes to gain a common Master’s degree. The institutions concerned shall ensure that both degrees are recognised in the two countries.
Places on these programmes are limited, and admissions and any applicable grants are subject to applicants being selected in a specific Call for applications.
