Learning outcomes
The course aims to provide basic knowledge, applications and methodological tools to understand the coaching process and the role of mental aspects in the process of improvement and optimisation of performance.
A relevant space will be reserved for the presentation of case studies and group work in a logic of problem solving, in order to favour maximum interaction between teacher and student.

1. Coaching: from the origins to our times.
2. Psychology and coaching: affinity and differences.
3. The influence of psychological factors in sports performance.
4. The coach-athlete relationship and the consequences both in the learning process and in sports performance
a) self-management
b) management of the role
c) management of stress and emotions
d) management of interpersonal relationships.
5. Strategies of interpersonal communication: principles and techniques.
6. Motivation to practice sports: perception of competence, success, failure and self-efficacy.
7. Athlete's cognitive processes: attributive styles and locus of control.
8. Coaching programme for performance optimisation: structuring, tools and procedures.
