Academic calendar
The academic calendar shows the deadlines and scheduled events that are relevant to students, teaching and technical-administrative staff of the University. Public holidays and University closures are also indicated. The academic year normally begins on 1 October each year and ends on 30 September of the following year.

The teaching program includes, after having defined what an archive is and what functions are performed by archiving, the presentation of general archiving. Attention will be focused on the analysis of the characteristics that distinguish the archive in its phases: current, storage and historical. We will focus on historical archives and in particular those dating back to the 19th and 20th centuries. The equipment and tools for correct archive management will be illustrated. During the course, reference will be made to the Italian legislation governing archival activity. In summary, the program intends to address the following topics: - Definition of the archive and role of the archivist - Purpose of the archive and archiving and the problems to be addressed. - How and when an archive is born. - Archival sorting methods - The archival constraint - The archive in the current phase; the protocol register - The archive in the deposit phase - The selection and discard phase - The archive in the historical phase and research. - the supporting equipment The contents of the textbooks, as well as the lessons and meetings held in the classroom are in line with the programme. Further teaching material is available on the teaching e-learning platform.

Learning assessment procedures
Oral examination for attending and non-attending students; for the first ones, the study of a selection of the reference texts indicated in Leganto is envisaged; for the second ones, preparation on all of the reference texts in their entirety is required

The following will be evaluated:
- ability to discursively organise acquired knowledge;
- quality of exposition, competence in the use of specialist terminology
