Learning outcomes
The main objective of the course is to present the history of the discipline and the main Italian archives with a specific focus on the theoretical principles, on the regulation and on the methodological approaches, from Middle Ages to 20th century.
Upon successful completion of this course, students will acquire notions about the profession and basic skills to preserve and exploit archival materials.
Program
Prerequisites: None
Course outlines:
Module1: this module presents the evolution of the theories from the Middle Ages to the mid-twentieth century.
Module 2: this module serves as an introduction to the responsibilities of archivists and records managers, particularly the theoretical principles, methodologies and practical administration of such programs; special attention will be given to regulations and new technologies.
Module 3: this module introduces students to recordkeeping systems and archival finding aids.
