Learning objectives
The seminars provide students with the necessary concepts to recognize the potential, critical issues and applicability of the different analytical methodologies for the analysis of protein markers.
Prerequisites and basic notions
there are no specific prerequisites required
Program
FIRST SEMINAR - Chiara Piubelli co-teaching (IRCCS Sacro Cuore Don Calabria Hospital) “Humoral and cellular biomarkers for the evaluation of the immune response to SARS-CoV-2 vaccination and breakthrough infections”: Different techniques will be described for the immune response analysis . For the humoral response, examples of antibodies and soluble markers measurements will be shown (serology assays, avidity assays, in vitro microneutralization, Luminex). The cell-mediated response will be explored by cyto-flow immunophenotyping, T cell in vitro stimulation with specific antigens and Antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity.
SECOND SEMINAR - Alberto Vezzelli & Elena Vicentini co-teaching (Evotec - Campus Levi-Montalcini) "Bioanalysis in industry: LC-MS/MS and ligand binding assay": Description of validations and applications in the preclinical and clinical field of LC-MS/MS and ligand binding assay (ELISA). Bioanalysis within the drug development process will be discussed, also touching some regulatory aspects (e.g. guidelines, quality aspects).

"Bioanalisi in industria: LC-MS/MS e ligand binding assay":
