Learning objectives
The aim of the lecture is to deepen understanding of the role of CD1 family glycoproteins (MHC class I-like molecules) in the immune system's recognition of amphipathic lipid antigens. Specifically, the processes of assembly, trafficking, lipid antigen binding, and T cell activation will be illustrated, along with recent scientific insights into how lipid antigens can differentially stimulate CD1-restricted T cells in both the innate and adaptive systems.
