Learning objectives
The course aims to provide a critical overview of the main experimental models (in vitro, in vivo, ex vivo) used in preclinical research, highlighting their advantages, limitations, and fields of application. Students will acquire the criteria and tools to select the most appropriate model for a given biological question or preclinical intervention, for example in the context of pharmacological screening.
Prerequisites and basic notions
None
Program
Experimental models in vitro (organoids, monolayer cell cultures, tissue slices) and in vivo (mouse models) used to study the molecular mechanisms of cancer and for the preclinical evaluation of new drugs will be presented. Advantages, limitations and applications in preclinical research and in the validation of innovative therapies will be evaluated.
