T.15 [T.15 - Terra] | Michele Scandola | Abstract: In this four-hour class, we will learn how to systematically conduct a literature review following PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) guidelines. The session will cover the key phases of a systematic review process, including: • Formulating the research question using the PICO (Population, Intervention, Comparison, Outcome) framework; • Developing and registering a protocol on platforms such as Open Science Framework; • Designing and executing search strategies across multiple databases; • Managing search results, including deduplication using tools such as revtools and Rayyan; • Screening studies for inclusion, involving multiple independent reviewers to ensure reliability; • Extracting relevant data from the included studies; • Assessing the quality and risk of bias of the selected studies; • Synthesizing the findings, which may include qualitative synthesis or meta-analysis; • Reporting results in accordance with the PRISMA checklist and flow diagram. By the end of the class, participants will be equipped with the foundational skills and tools necessary to conduct and report a transparent, reproducible, and methodologically rigorous systematic review. |
