Learning outcomes
The course aims at providing legal knowledge in the labour field focusing on those instruments that are necessary in order to deal with the emergencies deriving from natural catastrophes, hunger, wars, migrations, affecting social rights in the multi-level legal order. Consistently with the learning targets of the legal area of the master's degree in Emergency Govern-ance, also in this course students are trained to be capable of understanding the legal context and the fundamental principles of reference as well as of finding proper solutions to legal problems.
Program
The course starts with a brief introduction to the subject, focusing on the system of sources, the distribution of competences between regions, states and the European Union, the instruments of action between hard/soft law and policies.
The topics that will be dealt with are:
- free movement of people, with a distinction between eu and non-eu citizens
- fight against discriminations on grounds of nationality, race/ethnic origin, religion, age, disability and gender
- active and passive employment policies as support and protection in the labour market
- the map of non-standard contracts, with specific attention to work in cooperatives, casual jobs paid by vouchers, occasional work and voluntary work.
Materials will be provided by the professor and up-loaded on the e-learning platform.
Examination Methods
There is a final oral exam aimed at verifying students’ knowledge, correct use of language and capacity of connecting the different thematic areas involved.
