Acquisition of skills to support the teaching of high school students at risk of dropping out of school

Program

The University of Verona, with the support of the Provincial School Office of Verona and with the support of Cestim and the Rete Tante Tinte, proposes to promote and organize a university volunteering project to support two-year students in their study subjects of upper secondary schools, coming from disadvantaged socio-economic and cultural contexts at risk of dropping out of school. The intervention of the volunteers consists in remotely supporting the assigned person in the study of some school subjects. The volunteer can make himself available in one or more of these disciplinary areas: 1. Mathematical-scientific area (mathematics, science, technology, computer science...) 2. Humanistic area (Italian, history, geography, law... .) 3. Linguistic Area (Italian L2, English, German, Spanish, French, Russian) WHAT IS REQUESTED OF THE VOLUNTEER With the volunteer we agree: ● availability by filling out a form: ● compulsory participation in a training course of at least 8 hours organized by the University and its offices, with Cestim (see timetable) on the following contents: - the role of the volunteer: skills to establish and conduct an effective educational relationship ; - elements of pedagogy and intercultural pedagogy; - the Italian language in study; - the intervention of the volunteer: didactic and operational aspects. ● a process of at least 15 meetings with the student to be followed for a minimum of 22.5 hours of teaching activity between February and May 2023 (see timetable) ● an online meeting with the student to be followed, of the duration of 1.5 hours and on a weekly basis whose time will be agreed with the student's family; ● some moments of monitoring with the project working group and with the supported student's class teachers; ● upon acceptance by the individual teaching college, the student will be awarded 1 credit for the activity carried out, subject to recognition of the teaching colleges and completion of the 8 hours of training, verification of the carrying out of the training activities, fulfillment of assigned support activities and drafting of a report.

The assessment of the procedure as a whole allows for the attribution of the training credit
