Program
Contemporary Art from the Sixties to Current Times: crucial points, methods and processes
The course will develop through four modules.
In the first part some fundamental lines of development of plastic and visual languages will be addressed; experiences which, from the second half of the 1950s, trigger operational and concept changes in artistic processes (object, space, action).
In the second part we will focus on the transversal analytical study of the so-called neo-avant-gardes, which between the 1960s and 1970s gave life to many of the paradigms at the basis of the current phenomenology of art.
In the third part, some themes and approaches recurring in contemporary art will be examined, which on one hand re-establish a direct connection with tradition, and on the other hand open up to new models (the body, the sacred, science, political commitment, ...).
The last module will focus on the critical analysis of some works from the AGI Verona collection set up in the Santa Marta center.
The lectures will make use of multimedia presentations containing texts, images and videos. Space may be given to meetings / discussions with operators in the contemporary art sector (critics, curators, artists)
Bibliography
Examination Methods
The exam will take place orally, through an interview during which preparation on the program assigned will be reviewed, as well as critical skills developed.
For those attending in presence, the preparation of the text by Alessandro Del Puppo, indicated in the bibliography, is required. Further assignments will be indicated at the beginning of the course.
For remote attending students (through Panopto platform) the preparation of the text by Alessandro Del Puppo, indicated in the bibliography, must be integrated with the text by Enrico Crispolti indicated. Students attending in this way are required to contact the teacher via email to agree on the parts of the text to be studied in depth.
For non-attending students, the preparation of both texts indicated in the bibliography is required.
