Learning outcomes
This course aims to provide the fundamental tools for understanding not only the formal development, but also the most relevant themes in the catalogue of the painter Giovanni Bellini; in this context, the paintings will be studied through a wide range of sources (litterature, documents, etc.).
This course will concentrate on the role played by Giovanni Bellini in the Venetian painting. In this light, a special focus will be set on iconography and iconology, underlining the painter’s connection to contemporary culture, not only in the visual field.
