CONTAMINATION LAB 

The Contamination Lab Verona (CLab Verona) is an experiential course with modules on innovation and enterprise culture that offers the opportunity to work in teams with students from all areas to solve challenges set by companies and organisations.  

Upon completion of a CLab, students will be entitled to receive 6 CFU (D- or F-type credits).

PLEASE NOTE: In order to be admitted to any teaching activities, including those of your choice, you must be enrolled in the academic year in which the activities in question are offered. Students who are about to graduate in the December and April sessions are therefore advised NOT to undertake extracurricular activities in the new academic year in which they are not enrolled, as these graduation sessions are valid for students enrolled in the previous academic year. Therefore, students who undertake an activity in an academic year in which they are not enrolled will not be granted CFU credits.

Learning objectives

KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING in-depth knowledge of the economic and business dynamics of social work organizations, their management and evaluation ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING ability to manage and manage problems related to human resources decision-making ability in complex organizational situations. SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES The course aims to offer students a reading of the main organizational models that have been applied in the past and which are still used today by companies and administrations in various business contexts. Specifically, the course will deepen the theories and management models of Human Resources from the dawn of classical theories to the discovery of the human, group and motivation. Further reflection will be offered with the analysis of marketing and customer satisfaction in services in order to stimulate students to develop an attention to the users with whom they could compete in both private and public bodies. The theoretical analysis will be completed by an application part dedicated to the analysis of case studies and research applied in different sectors.

Prerequisites and basic notions

Basic knowledge of organizational, corporate budget, and management control.

Program

The course aims to teach students the fundamental concepts for reading and managing service enterprises to understand and manage new business models. Specifically, the following three macro-topics will be addressed in the course:
1) The organization and management of service enterprises:
- Organizational structures
- Business processes
- Business models
- The qualitative and economic-financial indicators (KPIs)
- The budget and the business plan
2) Human resource management:
- Skills and knowledge
- Attracting and managing talent
- Hints of leadership and styles
- People analysis
3) Data analysis for business model development:
- Introduction to data warehousing
- Business intelligence
- Introduction to business analysis tools

Didactic methods

During the course, space will be given to analyze and discuss cases developed by the students. Furthermore, throughout the academic year, the individual reception service managed by the teacher is available at times indicated on the web pages (by sending an email to make an appointment) and constantly updated. The content of the textbook, as well as the lectures and exercises held in the classroom, adheres to the program. During the lessons, the slides will be made available as study material. The program and study materials are the same, regardless of class attendance.

Learning assessment procedures

The exam consists of a written test. Students are encouraged to consult the notices in Moodle. The test will consist of three open questions.

Students with disabilities or specific learning disorders (SLD), who intend to request the adaptation of the exam, must follow the instructions given HERE

Evaluation criteria

The questions are structured in such a way as to test the level of knowledge of issues concerning the management of service enterprises. At the same time, they are designed to test the ability to interpret the main issues related to problem-solving.

Criteria for the composition of the final grade

The test is aimed at ascertaining:
- knowledge of the topics in the program, with particular reference to their applicative and methodological aspects;
- the ability to apply logical schemes to the various business analysis problems;
- the depth and breadth of the knowledge gained; - the property of language;
- the ability to use the techniques and tools covered by the course. The final evaluation, which considers any activities (carrying out case studies) carried out during the course, is expressed in 30ths.
