Program

The module provides the knowledge and tools to design and evaluate projects on specific social and health issues. At the end of the module, the student will: a) know the main methodological-design-evaluation theories and related operational techniques provided by the state of the art and the literature; b) be able to construct and apply evaluation protocols according to the accreditation criteria provided in the field of social services, also taking into account the aspects inherent to the evaluation of quality of excellence; c) know how to choose appropriate evaluation strategies in relation to the constraints of project applicability, stakeholder consensus and budget limitations.
This module covers the following topics:
Project monitoring and evaluation. Professional activities, objectives, inputs and outputs.
Environment; objectives and targets; social information and indicators; indicators of system status and dynamics: efficiency and effectiveness.
Types of system monitoring and evaluation. Ex-post evaluation: objectives achieved.
Other types of evaluation in the business environment.
Evaluation and traditional forms of control in health and social services.
Evaluation design. Experimental models. Differential evaluation. Evaluation.
Ex ante evaluation: evaluation models.
Instructions for the execution of the evaluation protocol.
Evaluation in progress. Standards and Objectives.
Quality Analysis and Evaluation. Accreditation and Certification. ISO 9000 Evaluation of Perceived Quality and Patient/User Satisfaction.
Process Information System. Social indicators. Data collection over time.

Didactic methods

Lectures to present individual topics. Use of examples/cases from scientific research on the various topics proposed in class. Suggestions of cases to activate plenary discussion.

Learning assessment procedures

The examination will consist of: a) a written test with open questions on the theoretical part covering the three modules; b) a project/protocol prepared by the student for the practical exercise following the instructions of the lecturers. The written test will be held on the same dates and at the same time in the classroom for all three modules. The protocols of the practical test, which the student will send by e-mail (TO ALL 2 TEACHERS), will be evaluated by the lecturers, each for their own part and then collectively for the whole work. . The overall course mark will be the average of the written mark and the mark obtained in the practical project test. If the student does not obtain a sufficient mark in any one of the three modules, he/she will have to repeat the written examination of all three modules at the next examination of the same session or at another session. PROJECT GUIDELINES Prior to the final and definitive submission of the project, the lecturers are available for interim examinations and/or consultations a maximum of 2 times per lecturer per project. The project can be done individually or in groups.

Evaluation criteria

CRITERIA FOR GRADING THE WRITTEN TEST Consistency of the answer with the question. Clarity and correctness of the theoretical and practical aspects. Degree of understanding of the subject matter. Use of appropriate and relevant language. Ability to make connections, where possible and relevant, between the topics of the 3 modules. ASSESSMENT CRITERIA Originality of the chosen topic. Relevance of the chosen topic to social service issues. Coherence between actions and objectives. Consistency between indicators - concepts - measurement tools/techniques. Presence and correct use of relevant and up-to-date bibliographical references.
