The course aims to deepen the main Public Helath themes with the aim of implementing what has been learned in the daily professional practice. At the end of the course the student will be able to: - Interpreting epidemiological information regarding main health care problems - Recognize the concepts of "health / disease determinants", "causality" and "risk factor" and "health / disease determinants" with particular reference to "socio-economic determinants" - Recognize main strategies of prevention / health promotion / education both in the context of acute diseases (including vaccination and vaccination obligation) and Non Communicable Diseases (including screening) with particular reference to the frail population (including barriers to access and adherence to public health interventions) - Recognize different type of health organization and their differences in terms of goals and main features. Understand the logic of "integrated assistance" and the tools identified for this integration

The course aims to implement what has been learned in the daily practice. The student at the end of the course should be able to: - Knowing how to use epidemiological information concerning main health care problems in order to identify public health priorities and interpret the "health status" of a population (with particular reference to data concerning socio-economic aspects) - Implementing in everyday practice the concepts of "health / disease determinants", "causality" and "risk factor", recognizing with particular reference to "socio-economic determinants": a) how they can concur to the development / maintenance of disease (acute and / or Non Communicable Diseases); b) how it is possible to positively affect the natural history of illness (acute and / or Non Communicable Diseases) modifying its natural course - identifying main strategies of prevention / promotion / health education both for acute and Non Communicable Diseases (with particular reference to the frail / disadvantaged population) - Identifying main barriers that hinder an adequate adherence to public health interventions (both for Non Communicable and acute diseases) and knowing how to identify interventions / actions to overcome the aforementioned barriers (with particular reference to the fragile / disadvantaged population)

1. The concept of health, disease and causes of disease. Criteria for assessing the causal link. 2. Determinants of health and disease, socio-economic determinants: the concept of "frail population" and equity 3. Epidemiological studies: interpreting the epydemiological profyle of a population; elements for the evaluation of the main population health problems: main diseases affecting a population, leading causes of death in the general population (with a specific focus on "frail" population). 4. Epidemiology and prevention of infectious diseases: the epidemiological chain and the methods of transmission, prophylaxis of infectious diseases, the role of the environment in the balance between microrganism-host and the role of socio-economic factors. Sexual transmitted diseases. 5. Epidemiology and primary and secondary prevention of major chronic diseases with a focus on oncological screening and frail population 6. models of organization and social-health integration

Working groups on data concerning the fragile / disadvantaged population (concept of equity) - Working groups on clinical cases in order to recognize the "socio-economic determinants" of diseases, how they can concur to the development / maintenance of disease (acute and / or Non Communicable Disease) - Working groups on clinical cases to identify the main strategies of prevention / promotion / health education both in acute and Non Communicable Diseases (with particular reference to the fragile / disadvantaged population) - Brainstorming on vaccination obligation - Working Groups to identify the main barriers that hinder adequate adherence to public health interventions (both in Non Communicable and acute Diseases) and identify interventions / actions to overcome the aforementioned barriers (with particular reference to the fragile / disadvantaged population )
