Learning outcomes
Objectives of the course are the following:
1) Introducing the student to the use of strategies, methods and techniques for the evaluation of health/social programmes tipically suggested, managed or implemented by the social worker as a componente of his/her professional activity.
2) Promoting he use of mixed research approaches, aimed at gathering the complexity of the implementarion of programmes in contexts of social change or oriented in triggering change.
3) To learn how manage conceptual and technical aspects of social work programmes evaluation.
4) Constructing a simulation of programme-evaluation process framework.
Program
Il course revolver around the consecutio of a protocollo (10-15 pages following the guidelines prpvided by the teacher aimed at evaluating a simulated programme applied to health & welfare services.
The simulation will be made on as subject choose by the student upon which a health & welfare project will be drafted. The evaluation framework will be applied to this project.
In the following some features of the theoretical and practical are described:
A) The protocol sill be constructed by following some steps.
B)For each step some techniques will be suggestes. Some of these should be already known by the students from their previous courses of Research methodology (Bibliography will be provided for the students that did not attend basic coursers at the University of Verona).
C)The protocollo constructed by te student includes 5 steps: the Background doc (M1); the project (M2); the protocollo for ex-ante evaluation (M3); the protocollo for the evaluation in-itinere (M4) the protocol for the evaluation ex-post (M5). Such documents will be the component of the exercise.
D)In the construction of the protocollo the student will have to keep to the guidelines provided for each step, which include the number of words, grahps and comments. Such guidelines can be found in specific files (called hypertexts) that con be retrieved by a code preceded by the letter M.
E)The materials are slide (code precede by the letter S) and references.
The student will be invited to using all approaches included in the classical dicotomies concerning evaluation in a mixed-approach: formative vs summative evaluation; process vs outcome evaluation; ex.ante vs ex-post evaluation; qualitative vs qualitative evaluation techniques; goal vs stakeholder centred; post-potivisti vs constructivist approach
The organization of lessons will consist of theoretical contributions from the teacher and of presentation of work in progress exercices by students.

Examination Methods
Then exam will consist of the discussion of a paper including the results of the exercise, drafted according to the specific rules which will be indicated by the teacher.
