SPS/08 - SOCIOLOGY OF CULTURE AND COMMUNICATION

Learning outcomes

1. The course aims to introduce students to the basic concepts necessary to understand the social role of third sector organizations, in order to work with such kind of organizations in the field of social services;
2. More generally the course will propose a theoretical reflection on the role of third sector organizations in the welfare state crisis of today.

Program

Contents
- Review of the main theories of third sector;
- Definition of the relational specificity of third sector;
- The third sector in Italy: rules, dimensions, culture and practices
- Third sector and social policies;

Examination Methods

In order to facilitate students who desire to split the exam; at the end of the course is fixed a written exam (a test of about 25-30 questions and 4 items per question) on the contents of slides and the text: Stanzani, La specificità relazionale del terzo settore, Milano, Angeli.
Only students who reach a mark of at least 18/30 pass the test.
The mark obtained is valid till February 2017.
The test takes place only once a year.
The exam on the third (3.) part of the program is oral and takes place in the normal sessions of the academic calendar.
Who doesn’t sustain to the written exam, presents the whole program at the oral exams that take place in the normal sessions.
