The aim of this module is to provide knowledge and tools for social planning and programme evaluation. At the end of the module the student will reach: a) knowledge of the main planning-evaluation theories and methods; b) capability to design and implement evaluation protocols according to the guidances relative to social service quality accreditation, including excellence quality evaluation; c) capablility of selecting suitable evaluation strategies, in various social service scenarios (i.e. level of stakeholder consensus; budget constraints; etc.) d) acquiring means and attitudes for detecting ways and occasions of skill and knowledge updating in a changing normative and technological environment.

Topics - Scenarios and paradigms of programme-evaluation strategies in health and social environment - Accreditation, certification and excellence quality - Research models and types of evaluation: ex-ante, in-itinere; ex post evaluation - Ex-ante evaluation techniques (I.E. Delphi, focus groups, brainstorming, SWOT) - In itinere evaluation organisation - A framework for evaluation protocol construction and implementation The topics seen above will be met through the following didactic strategies Lessons: these will be relative to objective a), in synergy with the laboratory activity of this module as well as in accordance to the other modules of this course (Research and Social Work) will concur in meeting objectives c) and d) following the guidances of the Dublin Descriptors. This is relative to the theoretical programme aspects described above, also with the contribution of external experts. Workshop: this method will be followed in meeting objective b), that will concur with the other modules of the course to meeting objectives c) and d). In the workshop ex-ante evaluation techniques will be experimented. In addition, always in synergy with the other modules, students will be organized in small groups each of which will work on a specific social work programme (created and designed by the same students). The present module will be relative to the design of the evaluation project, en.ante and in itinere evaluation in particular. Materials of the module are the following: - lessons slides; - guide to the design and construction of the evaluation protocol, with relative explanatory hyper-texts - materials on particular issues raised during the course Other materials are the following: - Niero M.(2002) "La valutazione" in Metodi e tecniche di ricerca per il servizio sociale (attualmente in fase di riedizione riveduta e corretta). Carocci Roma. - Stame N.(2016) La valutazione pluralista, Feltrinelli, Milano Other bibliographic materials will be suggested by the teacher during lessons

All theoretical topics will be translated into practice during the present part of the programme, that we recall below. - Scenarios and paradigms of programme-evaluation strategies in health and social environment - Accreditation, certification and excellence quality - Research models and types of evaluation: ex-ante, in-itinere; ex post evaluation - Ex-ante evaluation techniques (I.E. Examination Methods
The objective of the examination is to ascertain the level of knowledge and application skills of students acquired during the course. The exam will be structured as follows:
a) a written test on the theoretical aspects of the course, consisting of questions with free / narrative answers;
b) the analysis of the evaluation protocol presented by the student / student specifically with respect to the choice and use of the indicators.
Each part will have an evaluation expressed in 30simi (the weights of each part will be agreed with the students and students in line with the other modules of the course). The overall grade of the module will be given by the weighted average (depending on the weights decided) of the two parties.
Details and format for the construction of the protocol will be provided in class. There are no differences between attending and non-attending students. The materials will be made available to everyone either by e-mail or through the course / module page.
The examination modalities of this module are similar to those of the other two modules of the teaching (Design and evaluation of services, Prof. Niero; Inter-institutional Design, Prof. Pantalone), aiming to privilege continuity and consistency. The examination of this, as of each of the other modules, will consist of:
a) a written test (1-2 open questions) for the theoretical part;
b) a project / protocol built by the student for the practical exercise according to the teacher's instructions.
The written test will take place on the same dates and classrooms simultaneously for all three modules, through a single form. The protocols of the practical test, which the student will deliver by e-mail, will be evaluated by the teacher of the module for the specific part and, subsequently, in a collegial manner for the entire work.
The overall grade of each module will consist of the average between the grade of the written exam and that obtained on the protocol of the practical test; the weighted average of the votes obtained on the three modules will be verbalized as the overall grade of the course.
Written test of the three modules and evaluation of the three protocols must be passed by the student within the same exam session. If the student does not obtain a sufficient assessment in one of the three modules, he must redo the written test of all three at the next session of the same session, or in another session.
The three protocols of the practical test must be sent to the teachers during (and not beyond) the expiry of the session within which the student will sustain the written test.
Students who will take the written test in the first session of the A.A. (June 2020) will be able to deliver and have their protocols evaluated even (but not beyond) the autumn session, keeping the vote obtained in the summer session valid.
If this does not happen, at the first useful session (in this case January / February 2021), the student will have to redo the written test.
