CONTAMINATION LAB 

The Contamination Lab Verona (CLab Verona) is an experiential course with modules on innovation and enterprise culture that offers the opportunity to work in teams with students from all areas to solve challenges set by companies and organisations.  

Upon completion of a CLab, students will be entitled to receive 6 CFU (D- or F-type credits).

PLEASE NOTE: In order to be admitted to any teaching activities, including those of your choice, you must be enrolled in the academic year in which the activities in question are offered. Students who are about to graduate in the December and April sessions are therefore advised NOT to undertake extracurricular activities in the new academic year in which they are not enrolled, as these graduation sessions are valid for students enrolled in the previous academic year. Therefore, students who undertake an activity in an academic year in which they are not enrolled will not be granted CFU credits.

Learning objectives

The course aims to give the basic knowledge about the biological processes underlying social behaviour. In particular the neural correlates of social interactions, in-group and out-group processes and their modulation by environment and culture will be discussed. The course will also illustrate the methodologies of research in social neurosciences and the impact of results in terms of education. By the end of the course students will be able to: - know the biological correlates of social behaviour during social interactions - know the biological correlates of modulations in social behaviour and education - know the research methods in cognitive, social and affective neurosciences - develop the ability to use instruments and techniques for the observation of social behaviour and implicit responses to social interactions - develop the ability to devise and execute experimental studies in social neurosciences.

Program

Introduction to social neuroscience A neuroanatomical look at networks involved in social processes (limbic system, prefrontal cortices, insula, cortical medial network, salience network, central executive network, anterior cingulate cortex, face and body perception networks) Plasticity of networks neural Some areas of social neuroscience (neuroeconomics, neuropsychoanalysis, neuroaesthetics, neuroethics, neuropolitics) Social life between the self and the relationship with the other Self-awareness (models of awareness, loss of awareness, anosognosia) Social life ( theory of mind, empathy) Embedding the world (theories of embodied knowledge and embodied experiences)

Didactic methods

Lectures with interaction with students through multiple choice questions and other interactive activities. The lessons will also be provided in streaming and the recordings will be made available on the moodle website. In any case, face-to-face participation is strongly recommended.

Learning assessment procedures

Written exam with 15 multiple choice questions and 3 short answer open questions on the entire program. If at least 8 points are not reached with the multiple choice questions, the part of the open questions will not be evaluated.

Students with disabilities or specific learning disorders (SLD), who intend to request the adaptation of the exam, must follow the instructions given HERE

Evaluation criteria

- correct answers to questions - appropriate use of language - ability to relate different topics

Criteria for the composition of the final grade

- multiple choice questions will be evaluated out of thirty - open-ended questions will be evaluated out of thirty, with the possibility of honors The two votes will then be averaged
