CONTAMINATION LAB 

The Contamination Lab Verona (CLab Verona) is an experiential course with modules on innovation and enterprise culture that offers the opportunity to work in teams with students from all areas to solve challenges set by companies and organisations.  

Upon completion of a CLab, students will be entitled to receive 6 CFU (D- or F-type credits).

PLEASE NOTE: In order to be admitted to any teaching activities, including those of your choice, you must be enrolled in the academic year in which the activities in question are offered. Students who are about to graduate in the December and April sessions are therefore advised NOT to undertake extracurricular activities in the new academic year in which they are not enrolled, as these graduation sessions are valid for students enrolled in the previous academic year. Therefore, students who undertake an activity in an academic year in which they are not enrolled will not be granted CFU credits.

Learning objectives

GENERAL LEARNING OBJECTIVES. *To know and understand the processes concerning training and education according to the perspective of disciplines such as philosophy, sociology, law, geography, and anthropology. *To apply ethics-philosophy, sociology, law, geography, and anthropology knowledge to observe and understand diversity and migratory phenomena in order to favour and support processes of social and cultural inclusion.
SPECIFIC LEARNING OBJECTIVES. *To promote cultural decentralization and to use anthropological knowledge to intervene in marginality situations and integration difficulties. *To plan, create and evaluate in an anti-racist perspective of social inclusion and intercultural dialogue.

Program

The first part of the course will focus on the fundamentals of cultural anthropology and will answer questions such as: what is the anthropological perspective? What is the anthropological concept of culture? What does anthropology mean by cultural relativism? What is ethnographic research? What is cosmology? What are relationality systems? The ways in which individuals use culture to relate to and transform the world and to
organise material life will then be illustrated.
The second part of the course will delve into some aspects of the anthropology of inequalities, focusing in particular on intersectionality as a theoretical, methodological and social-political intervention approach based on the consideration of the multiplicity of aspects that make up individual identities and the ways in which these intertwine to create particular situations of disadvantage or privilege in a given social context.

Didactic methods

Didactics will be enriched with case studies and ethnographic examples partly from personal field experiences. Didactics will include active involvement of students.

Learning assessment procedures

The examination includes a written test to assess student learning. The test will cover the main topics of the syllabus.
The student must demonstrate an understanding of the basic elements of socio-cultural anthropology, knowledge of the main concepts of the anthropology of inequalities as well as of intersectionality and the ability to present his/her arguments appropriately.
The examination will consist of a 31-question quiz.
The time allocated for the test will be 1 hour.

Students with disabilities or specific learning disorders (SLD), who intend to request the adaptation of the exam, must follow the instructions given HERE

Evaluation criteria

Each answer will be awarded one point.

Criteria for the composition of the final grade

The mark will be calculated by adding up the marks obtained for each correct answer.
