Learning outcomes

The course concentrates on teoretical and metedological aspect of family sociology. Different tipes and variations of families will be discussed with a focus on actual phenomena of familiy in Europe and on a local level in South Tyrol. The course has the goal to promote students capacity of critical reflection on family developements, on comunity, social and health services for family support, labour market and gender perspectives in social analisis.
Students will have a good knowledge of the main arguments discussed during the course and to reflect critically actual phenomena of family on a micro and macro level.

1. Introduction on family sociology and comunity sociology with a focus on support networks

a) actual data from local research projects on family Socology
b) local support networks

Examination Methods

Exam:

a) group work presentation: Work with families and supporting networks in various practical fields of care.
b) written exam about all the contents of the course.
