Learning objectives

The course provides an overview of principles, methods and practices for resilience and risk management. In coherence with the international standard 31.000/2009-2018, theoretical and practical risk management approaches are analysed during the course. In particular, the program describes tools for risk assessment (risk identification, risk measurement and risk evaluation) and risk mitigation, from a strategic, operational and financial perspective. In addition, the program covers the tools for implementing resilience and business continuity in processes and business operations.
At the end of the course, students should be able to: - address key strategic and operational risks into different functions and processes within a single organization and along a value chain, - measure the risk exposure and to select the appropriate tools for managing a risk portfolio, - understanding how to develop resilient processes and value chains. These competences are relevant for managers and researchers in the fields of management and economics. Business cases and case studies complete the program.

Didactic methods

The Course is structured in lessons (using slides), working groups and case studies. Lecturers from European/north-american universities and/or managers from companies will also participate in the course as invited speakers. An assignment is finally proposed to students as additional work during the course.
The Course will run between October and December.

Learning assessment procedures

The final exam is written and includes theoretical open questions and multiple-choice questions. Online registration is needed.
The student will have to prepare on the slides and materials provided by the teachers. The reference book is: Borghesi A., Gaudenzi B. "Risk Management", Springer, 2013.

Students with disabilities or specific learning disorders (SLD), who intend to request the adaptation of the exam, must follow the instructions given HERE

Evaluation criteria

The student will be assessed on the knowledge of the theoretical contents addressed during the course and on the ability of practical application, thanks to the participation in a project work (optional). There is also an extra (optional) module on the topic of Financial Risk Management, whose evaluation is considered as bonus points for the exam.

Criteria for the composition of the final grade

The final grade is based on the sum of the final exam grade and the evaluation of an (optional) project work, which will be assigned during the course. The project work consists of the development of a business case and adds a maximum of 3 points to the final grade.
In addition, the extra module of Financial Risk Management can also offer extra points for the final mark.

Graduation

Doppio Titolo
