Academic calendar

The academic calendar shows the deadlines and scheduled events that are relevant to students, teaching and technical-administrative staff of the University. Public holidays and University closures are also indicated. The academic year normally begins on 1 October each year and ends on 30 September of the following year.

CONTAMINATION LAB 

The Contamination Lab Verona (CLab Verona) is an experiential course with modules on innovation and enterprise culture that offers the opportunity to work in teams with students from all areas to solve challenges set by companies and organisations.

Upon completion of a CLab, students will be entitled to receive 6 CFU (D- or F-type credits).

PLEASE NOTE: In order to be admitted to any teaching activities, including those of your choice, you must be enrolled in the academic year in which the activities in question are offered. Students who are about to graduate in the December and April sessions are therefore advised NOT to undertake extracurricular activities in the new academic year in which they are not enrolled, as these graduation sessions are valid for students enrolled in the previous academic year. Therefore, students who undertake an activity in an academic year in which they are not enrolled will not be granted CFU credits.

Learning objectives

At the end of this class, the student will know more about how to collect, manage and use data for business analytics purposes, using Excel proficiently:
· to use data for descriptive purposes;
· to use data for predictive purposes;
· to use data for prescriptive purposes.

Program

1. The concept of Business Analytics (what is it?, why is it needed?, what is it good for?, how can we implement it?
2. Descriptive analytics
2.1. Visualization, exploration and data analysis
2.1.1. Pivot Tables
2.1.2. Dashboards
3. Predictive analytics
3.1. Predictive models (from causal models to time series models)
3.2. Excel tools for predictive analytics with practical international examples (what if analysis, scenario manager, data tables) using OECD data.
4. Prescriptive analytics.

Periodo di svolgimento: seconda e terza settimana di novembre 2022.

Destinatari: Studenti del CdLM in IEB; il corso è però aperto anche agli studenti di altri CdS, fino ad un massimo di 30 partecipanti.

Learning assessment procedures

Attenzione: Si ricorda che i laureandi di dicembre 2022/aprile 2023 non possono partecipare e richiedere l'accreditamento di cfu per la presente attività, in quanto si tratta di un'erogazione 2022/2023, mentre le sessioni di laurea si riferiscono all'a.a. 2021/2022.
Gli studenti regolarmente iscritti all'a.a. 2022/2023 sono tenuti a inserire l'attività a libretto.

Modalità di accertamento del profitto: The recognition of credits is subject to the attendance of the scheduled classes and
the passing of a final test consisting of the application of the concepts learned during the module to a database chosen
by the student and the preparation of a summary report of the analysis performed (about 2000 words).

Prova finale

La prova finale consiste in un elaborato in forma scritta di almeno 60 cartelle, che approfondisce un tema a scelta relativo a uno degli insegnamenti previsti dal piano didattico dello studente. Il tema e il titolo dell’elaborato dovranno essere selezionati in accordo con un docente dell’Ateneo di un SSD fra quelli presenti nel piano didattico dello studente. Il lavoro deve essere sviluppato sotto la guida del docente. La tesi è oggetto di esposizione e discussione orale, in una delle date appositamente stabilite dal calendario delle attività didattiche, dinanzi a una Commissione di Laurea nominata ai sensi del RDA. In accordo con il Relatore, la tesi potrà essere redatta e la discussione potrà svolgersi in lingua inglese.

Modalità di frequenza, erogazione della didattica e sedi

Le lezioni di tutti gli insegnamenti del corso di studio, così come le relative prove d’esame, si svolgono in presenza.

Peraltro, come ulteriore servizio agli studenti, è altresì previsto che, salvo diversa comunicazione del singolo docente, le lezioni siano videoregistrate e che vengano messe a disposizione sui relativi spazi e-learning degli insegnamenti alcune settimane dopo il loro svolgimento. Eccezioni a questa tempistica saranno possibili solo nel caso degli studenti a tempo parziale.

La frequenza non è obbligatoria.

Maggiori dettagli in merito all'obbligo di frequenza vengono riportati nel Regolamento del corso di studio disponibile alla voce Regolamenti nel menu Il Corso. Anche se il regolamento non prevede un obbligo specifico, verifica le indicazioni previste dal singolo docente per ciascun insegnamento o per eventuali laboratori e/o tirocinio.
