The teaching is organized as follows:
Learning outcomes
Module: I MODULO PARTE (I)

knowledge of the stages of the civilization, geographic environments and major historical events of the ancient Near East; knowledge of the main historical sources concerning the periods treated and of the methods for their analysis; knowledge of the main and recent approaches to the study of the ancient Near East and of basic bibliography.
Module: II MODULO PARTE (P)

In depth study of specific sectors of the history of the ancient Near East and relating sources; knowledge of methods for the analysis of the sources, of the relevant bibliography, and research tools.

Module: I MODULO PARTE (I)

Prerequisites: general historical and linguistic competence
Course content: History of Mesopotamia, Syria, the Levant and Anatolia from Early Bronze Age to pre-classical Iron Age.
Teaching methods: lectures, guided analysis of documents in translation.
Attendance is strongly recommended and students unable to attend are invited to consult the teacher for defining the program
Module: II MODULO PARTE (P)

Prerequisites: knowledge of the main historical phases and events of the ancient Near East
Course content: The Old Assyrian period (XX-XVIII cent. BC): general historical framework of Old Assyrian colonies in Cappadocia; relationships of the Assyrian state with the other regional states flourishing in the same period (Assur, Mari, Babylon, Eshnunna, etc..); analysis of the sources and especially of the rich documentation unearthed in the Anatolian commercial outpost of Kanesh.
Teaching methods: lectures, guided analysis of the sources.
Attendance is strongly recommended and students unable to attend are invited to consult the teacher for defining the program.
