Learning outcomes

Moral philosophy investigates the principles that either have guided or guide (or rather should guide) human actions in history, be they the acts of individuals or the choices of a whole society. Through the analysis of the most important stages in the history of ethics, students are expected to acquire a good degree of critical awareness about the main subjects of moral philosophy, as well as the most important moral problems of our time.

Program

Liberty, technics and development.
The first part of the course will provide a basic, general view of the main ethical paradigms developed in the Western philosophical tradition, while the second part will focus on the notion of liberty, trying to answer the following question: Is liberty really possible in the age of the seemingly irresistible rule of technical rationality, and the acritical faith in the myth of ever-further development?
